I certainly would say that treats are the way to go when you’re training a Cavalier. Though you can’t use treats IN the ring , you can give a treat right before you enter the ring and grab one or two to give your dog as soon as you come out of the ring. I make no effort to ‘fade’ treats during training.

Flat, martingale, and slip-chain collars permitted. No “training collars.” Novice & Intermediate is on leash. You will get point deductions if your leash gets tight at any time during your performance.
